I'm not trying to get into a political debate, however, one of the candidates said something that really surprised me, watch it for yourself....
Is a baby really a punishment? I thought they were blessings, gifts from God. If you don't want it, give it up for adoption, but it's not a punishment, it has a purpose! OK, I'll get off my high horse now! :)

I am not for Obama! But do we have to scrutinize EVERYTHING they say? Do you really think he meant it the way it sounded? What was the context in which he was saying that? Wasn't he talking about teen sex? Let's hope he meant to say "hardship of being a teen and having to raise a child"!

Ok, I'll agree, when I first saw the comment that came with the clip, I thought they had probably taken it out of context too, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, until I saw the clip. What he said is pretty clear. I'm not for Obama either, obviously, but when you are on that level, campaigning for the presidency you can't say things like that and get away with it. If it was a mistake, a slip of words, he should clarify exactly what he meant. And yes, I do think he meant it the way it sounded. If his daughters make a mistake by having sex out of wedlock and get pregnant he doesn't want them to be "punished" with having a baby, what about the consequences for having sex out of wedlock, so what then, he'll help them get an abortion? Please clarify Senator Obama! If he meant the hardship of being a teen and raising a child then that's what he should of said, or said that they would consider adoption if that happened, but he should never have called it a punishment! When they are at this level, campaining for the presidency, I do think we have to scrutinize everything they say, because that's how we know where they stand on issues, issues that are important to each individual, so that it can help you decide who you feel the best candidate is for the job, that agrees with your morals, standards or beliefs, so that you can be an informed voter.
No votes for him! He's on the campaign trail, it's still only April, and he already has insert-foot-in-mouth disease. How much worse would he be as President under pressure as is Dubya?
I agree that everyone needs to know that there are consequences to what we do, but his choice of words was really bad. It'll be interesting to see what consequences he'll suffer for uttering them.
